Location Rippinvale Retreat is situated adjacent to the Hanmer Springs golf course, just a 2 minute drive and easy flat walk to the iconic Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa and the Hanmer Springs Village centre which offers an array of shopping and dining experiences. Hanmer Springs is a 90 minute drive North from Christchuch Airport. From Kaikoura Hanmer Springs is a 2 hour drive on the Alpine Pacific Highway. Just north of the town of Amberley take the turn-off for State Highway 7. Turn-off on Highway 7a to Hanmer Springs. Driving from the West Coast - take State Highway 7 towards Christchurch. After crossing over the Lewis Pass, it's a 45 minute drive before the sign-posted turn-off on Highway 7a on the left to Hanmer Springs. Driving from Kaikoura - we suggest taking the sign-posted 'Alpine Pacific Highway' off State Highway 1 on the right just south of Kaikoura. You will enjoy the drive through beautiful high country scenery and small country towns such as Waiau and Rotherham, before coming to State Highway 7 where you turn right towards Lewis Pass / Westport. Turn-off on Highway 7a to Hanmer Springs. Finding Rippinvale Retreat - when you get to the Hanmer Springs village intersection (just past the Shell Service Station) continue straight ahead down Argelins Road. The second on the left is Rippingale Road (you will see our blue 'lodge' sign) continue 1 kilometre to the foot of the hill where you will see our stone and wooden gateway, number 68.
